Product Description:
ZEMDAP® – M is a fixed-dose oral antidiabetic combination of Dapagliflozin, a selective SGLT2 inhibitor, and Metformin, a first-line insulin sensitizer. Together, they offer powerful and complementary blood glucose control, ideal for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) who are inadequately managed with diet, exercise, or monotherapy. This combination not only lowers blood sugar but also supports weight loss, blood pressure reduction, and cardiovascular-renal protection.
Key Benefits:
-
Dual mechanism to improve fasting and postprandial glucose levels
-
Aids weight reduction and improves insulin sensitivity
-
Supports cardiovascular and renal protection in diabetic patients
-
Lowers risk of hypoglycemia when used alone
-
Effective and convenient once-daily dosing
How it works:
-
Dapagliflozin inhibits the SGLT2 transporter in the kidneys, reducing glucose reabsorption and increasing urinary glucose excretion.
-
Metformin decreases hepatic glucose production, improves insulin sensitivity, and enhances peripheral glucose uptake.
Together, they work synergistically to achieve sustained glycemic control and reduce long-term diabetic complications.
How to use:
-
Take one tablet daily, preferably with the first main meal of the day, or as directed by your doctor.
-
Swallow whole with a glass of water — do not crush or chew.
-
Maintain adequate fluid intake throughout therapy.
-
Regular blood sugar and renal function monitoring are recommended.
Safety Advice:
-
Low risk of hypoglycemia unless used with sulfonylureas or insulin.
-
May cause mild gastrointestinal upset initially — taking with food helps reduce this.
-
Stay well hydrated to avoid urinary or genital infections.
-
Monitor kidney function before and during long-term therapy.
Precautions:
-
Not recommended in patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA).
-
Use cautiously in patients with renal impairment, recurrent UTIs, or lactic acidosis risk factors.
-
Avoid during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless clearly advised by your physician.
-
Inform your doctor if you’re taking RAAS inhibitors, insulin, or diuretics.
Storage:
Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and moisture.
Keep out of reach of children.
