Product Description:
ZEMDAP® — V is a fixed-dose combination of Dapagliflozin, a selective SGLT2 inhibitor, and Vildagliptin, a potent DPP-4 inhibitor, formulated to offer synergistic glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). This dual-action therapy targets both fasting and post-meal glucose levels without causing weight gain or significant hypoglycemia. It is ideal for patients not adequately managed with monotherapy or lifestyle changes.
Key Benefits:
-
Controls both fasting and postprandial blood sugar
-
Promotes urinary glucose excretion and enhances insulin release
-
Does not cause weight gain or hypoglycemia when used alone
-
Convenient once-daily oral dose
-
Suitable for long-term diabetes care with cardiovascular-metabolic benefit
How it works:
-
Dapagliflozin blocks the SGLT2 transporter in renal tubules, reducing glucose reabsorption and increasing urinary glucose excretion.
-
Vildagliptin inhibits the DPP-4 enzyme, increasing incretin levels (GLP-1 & GIP), which stimulate insulin release and suppress glucagon secretion in a glucose-dependent manner.
Together, they offer complementary mechanisms that reduce glucose levels throughout the day.
How to use:
-
Take one tablet once daily, preferably in the morning, with or without food, or as directed by your physician.
-
Swallow whole with water — do not crush or chew.
-
Ensure adequate fluid intake during therapy.
-
Regularly monitor blood glucose and kidney function.
Safety Advice:
-
Generally well tolerated with a low risk of hypoglycemia.
-
May cause mild urinary or genital infections — maintain proper hygiene and hydration.
-
Routine monitoring of renal and liver function is recommended.
-
Avoid alcohol to reduce the risk of lactic acidosis or dehydration.
Precautions:
-
Not for use in type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA).
-
Caution in patients with renal impairment, liver dysfunction, or history of pancreatitis.
