Product Description:

SUGAWELL® – M is a fixed-dose combination of Sitagliptin, a DPP-4 inhibitor, and Metformin, an insulin sensitizer, indicated for adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) who are inadequately controlled by diet, exercise, or monotherapy. This dual mechanism supports comprehensive glycemic control, without weight gain or significant risk of hypoglycemia.

Key Benefits:

  • Effectively lowers fasting and postprandial blood glucose

  • Improves insulin sensitivity and reduces hepatic glucose output

  • Low risk of hypoglycemia when used alone

  • Weight-neutral and well tolerated in long-term use

  • Suitable for early-stage or combination-based diabetes therapy

How it works:

  • Metformin works by decreasing glucose production in the liver and increasing insulin sensitivity in muscle tissue.

  • Sitagliptin inhibits DPP-4, prolonging incretin activity (GLP-1 & GIP), which boosts insulin release and reduces glucagon secretion in a glucose-dependent manner.

Together, they offer synergistic glycemic control while minimizing side effects.

How to use:

  • Take one tablet once daily, preferably with food, or as prescribed by your doctor

  • Swallow whole with a full glass of water — do not crush or chew

  • Maintain adequate hydration and monitor blood glucose regularly

  • Follow lifestyle recommendations alongside therapy for best results

Safety Advice:

  • May cause mild gastrointestinal discomfort initially — usually subsides over time

  • Risk of lactic acidosis is rare but serious — avoid excessive alcohol and dehydration

  • Low risk of hypoglycemia unless used with insulin or sulfonylureas

  • Regular monitoring of blood sugar, kidney function, and HbA1c is advised

Precautions:

  • Not for use in type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)

  • Use with caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment

  • Avoid during pregnancy and breastfeeding unless clearly indicated

  • Inform your doctor of all ongoing medications, especially other antidiabetics or cardiovascular drugs

Storage:

Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
Keep out of reach of children.
