Product Description:

SUGADEL® – M is a fixed-dose combination of Linagliptin, a DPP-4 inhibitor, and Metformin, an insulin sensitizer, designed to provide complementary glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The combination improves both fasting and post-meal glucose levels, with the added advantage of weight neutrality and a low risk of hypoglycemia. It is particularly suitable for patients with renal impairment, as Linagliptin does not require dose adjustment based on kidney function.

How it works:

• Metformin decreases hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues.

• Linagliptin inhibits the DPP-4 enzyme, increasing levels of incretin hormones (GLP-1 & GIP), which enhance insulin secretion and suppress glucagon in a glucose-dependent manner.

Together, they provide synergistic control of blood sugar while minimizing the risk of adverse effects.

How to use:

• Take once or twice daily with meals, depending on your physician’s recommendation and tablet strength

• Swallow whole with water — do not crush or chew

• Maintain hydration and follow prescribed diet and exercise routine

• Regularly monitor blood glucose and renal function during treatment

Safety Advice:

• May cause mild gastrointestinal discomfort initially (due to Metformin)

• Very low risk of hypoglycemia when not used with sulfonylureas or insulin

• Monitor kidney and liver function regularly

• Avoid excessive alcohol to reduce the risk of lactic acidosis

Precautions:

• Not suitable for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)

• Use with caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment

• Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless clearly prescribed
