Product Description:
AUGJET®-CV combines Amoxicillin, a broad-spectrum penicillin-type antibiotic, with Clavulanic acid, a β-lactamase inhibitor, to combat resistant bacterial strains.
This potent combination offers enhanced protection against β-lactamase-producing organisms, making it highly effective in treating moderate to severe infections across respiratory, urinary, gastrointestinal, skin, and soft tissues.
Ideal for hospitalized patients and post-operative prophylaxis, AUGJET®-CV ensures broad antibacterial coverage, including Gram-positive, Gram-negative, and anaerobic pathogens.
Key Benefits:
-
Effective against β-lactamase-producing resistant organisms
-
Suitable for severe infections:
-
Respiratory tract (pneumonia, bronchitis)
-
Urinary tract
-
Intra-abdominal and pelvic infections
-
Skin and soft tissue infections
-
-
Supports surgical prophylaxis and hospital-acquired infections
-
Offers a wider antimicrobial spectrum than amoxicillin alone
How It Works:
-
Amoxicillin inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis.
-
Clavulanic acid irreversibly binds to β-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria, protecting amoxicillin from degradation and restoring its efficacy.
This synergy allows the formulation to kill a wider range of pathogens, even those resistant to amoxicillin alone.
How to Use:
-
Reconstitute with sterile water for injection
-
Administer by slow IV injection or infusion over 30–40 minutes
-
Dosage and frequency should be guided by a physician, based on infection severity, site, and patient condition
-
Not for intramuscular use
Safety Advice:
-
Perform sensitivity testing before use when possible
-
Monitor renal function, especially in elderly or renal-impaired patients
-
Ensure adequate hydration during therapy
-
Use cautiously in patients with penicillin allergies
Precautions:
-
Contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to penicillins or β-lactam antibiotics
-
May cause mild GI upset, rash, or rare hypersensitivity reactions
-
Prolonged use may lead to secondary infections such as C. difficile-associated diarrhea
-
Store below 25°C; protect from moisture and light
-
Use immediately after reconstitution – single-use vial
