Product Description:

DELIGHT®-HEPARIN 5K is a low-dose unfractionated heparin injection specifically formulated to prevent blood clot formation in hospitalized patients. It plays a vital role in post-operative thromboprophylaxis, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) prevention, and catheter line maintenance to reduce the risk of occlusions.

It is ideal for use in intensive care units (ICUs), surgical wards, dialysis units, and in patients with limited mobility or other thromboembolic risks.

How It Works:

Heparin enhances the activity of antithrombin III, which blocks key clotting factors (particularly thrombin and factor Xa). This action prevents the conversion of fibrinogen to fibrin, effectively inhibiting clot formation and maintaining blood flow in both the circulatory system and medical devices.

How to Use:

• Administered only under the supervision of qualified medical personnel

• Subcutaneous route for DVT prevention (typically 5,000 IU every 8–12 hours)

• Intravenous (IV) route for flushing IV lines or low-dose continuous anticoagulation

• Dosage and frequency must be adjusted based on patient risk factors and monitoring

Safety Advice:

• Avoid intramuscular injection

• Regularly monitor platelet counts, aPTT, and signs of bleeding

• Use cautiously in patients with hepatic or renal impairment

• Do not mix with incompatible IV drugs—use separate line or flush

Precautions:

• Not to be used in patients with:

  • Active bleeding disorders

  • Severe uncontrolled hypertension

  • Recent major surgery with bleeding risk

  • History of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT)

• Store below 25°C, protect from light and freezing

• Single-use vial — discard any unused portion immediately after opening
