Product Description:

HBCOZ® PLUS Injection contains Ferric Carboxymaltose (FCM), a next-generation intravenous iron formulation designed for rapid correction of iron deficiency in both outpatient and inpatient settings. It allows for high-dose iron delivery (up to 1000 mg) in a single, short infusion, improving compliance and reducing the need for multiple sessions.

It is ideal for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), heavy menstrual bleeding, postpartum anemia, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), or iron deficiency post-bariatric surgery.

Key Benefits:

  • Allows for rapid repletion of iron stores in 1–2 doses

  • Non-dextran formulation reduces risk of hypersensitivity

  • Suitable for patients who cannot tolerate oral iron or have poor GI absorption

  • Convenient outpatient administration within 15–30 minutes

How It Works:

Ferric Carboxymaltose releases bioavailable iron in a controlled manner, which is then taken up by macrophages and utilized in erythropoiesis. It bypasses gastrointestinal absorption, making it effective even in malabsorption syndromes or inflammatory conditions where oral iron fails.

How to Use:

  • Administer by slow IV push or short infusion (15–30 min)

  • Dosage:

    • 500–1000 mg in a single sitting, based on the patient’s hemoglobin level and iron deficit

  • Can be given undiluted (IV push) or diluted in 100ml NS for infusion

  • Always monitor during and after administration for any infusion-related reactions

Safety Advice:

  • Monitor hemoglobin, ferritin, and transferrin saturation before and after treatment

  • Use in controlled settings with trained personnel

  • Ensure emergency support is available in case of rare hypersensitivity reactions

  • Do not exceed 1000 mg per week

Precautions:

  • Contraindicated in:

    • Patients with known iron overload disorders (e.g., hemochromatosis)

    • Acute infections or hypersensitivity to FCM

  • Caution in:

    • Pregnancy (2nd and 3rd trimesters – only if clearly needed)

    • Pediatric patients, unless prescribed by a specialist

  • Do not mix with other drugs or IV solutions in the same line

  • Store below 25°C. Do not freeze
