Product Description:
IVERDEL® – FORTE is a powerful triple-action formulation combining Cefepime, a fourth-generation cephalosporin; Amikacin, a potent aminoglycoside; and L-Arginine, a renal-protective amino acid. This unique combination is designed for critically ill patients, especially those battling severe Gram-negative and mixed bacterial infections.
It is particularly useful in managing ICU sepsis, hospital-acquired pneumonia, urinary tract infections, surgical site infections, and febrile neutropenia, while supporting renal protection during aminoglycoside therapy.
Key Benefits:
-
Broad-spectrum coverage: Active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria
-
Effective in multi-drug resistant infections, especially Pseudomonas & Enterobacter
-
Renal support: L-Arginine helps reduce nephrotoxicity risk from aminoglycosides
-
Ideal for high-risk ICU patients, including immunocompromised and post-surgical cases
How It Works:
-
Cefepime disrupts bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to PBP (Penicillin-Binding Proteins), leading to cell lysis
-
Amikacin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis at the 30S ribosomal subunit, causing irreversible bacterial death
-
L-Arginine improves renal blood flow, supports nitric oxide production, and helps protect kidney tissue from aminoglycoside-induced toxicity
Together, they create a potent bactericidal effect with added nephroprotection.
How to Use:
-
Reconstitute with the provided sterile water
-
Administer via slow IV infusion over 30–60 minutes
-
Typical adult dosage: As per physician’s discretion, based on infection type and renal function
-
To be used strictly under medical supervision in hospital settings
Safety Advice:
-
Adjust dosage in patients with renal impairment (monitor serum creatinine)
-
Monitor for signs of ototoxicity and nephrotoxicity during prolonged use
-
Avoid combining with other nephrotoxic drugs without clear indication
-
Periodic audiometry and renal function tests recommended in long-term therapy
Precautions:
-
Not for intramuscular or bolus IV use
-
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or aminoglycosides
-
Use with caution in pregnant or lactating women unless clearly needed
-
Observe for hypersensitivity reactions, especially in patients with penicillin allergy
-
Use immediately after reconstitution or refrigerate and use within 24 hours
