Product Description:
SUGAVILD® – PG is a dual-action oral antidiabetic tablet combining Vildagliptin, a DPP-4 inhibitor, and Pioglitazone, a thiazolidinedione (TZD). This combination is specially designed for adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) who have insulin resistance or inadequate control on monotherapy. It addresses two key pathophysiological defects — incretin dysfunction and peripheral insulin resistance.
Key Benefits:
-
Targets both insulin resistance and beta-cell dysfunction
-
Improves glycemic control in patients with poor insulin sensitivity
-
Minimal risk of hypoglycemia when used without sulfonylureas or insulin
-
Promotes glucose uptake in muscle and adipose tissue
-
Suitable for early- to mid-stage T2DM or step-up therapy
How it works:
-
Vildagliptin inhibits DPP-4, prolonging the activity of incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP), which enhance insulin secretion and suppress glucagon in a glucose-dependent manner
-
Pioglitazone improves peripheral insulin sensitivity by acting on PPAR-γ receptors, increasing glucose uptake in adipose and muscle tissues while reducing hepatic glucose production
Together, they offer complementary action for improving insulin response and long-term glycemic control.
How to use:
-
Take one tablet once or twice daily with meals, as directed by your physician
-
Swallow whole with water — do not split or chew
-
Follow prescribed diet and exercise routine for best results
-
Regular blood sugar and liver function monitoring is recommended
Safety Advice:
-
May cause mild fluid retention — report swelling or rapid weight gain
-
Low risk of hypoglycemia unless used with insulin or sulfonylureas
-
Monitor liver enzymes periodically
-
Routine eye check-up is advised during long-term Pioglitazone use
Precautions:
-
Not recommended in patients with heart failure (NYHA Class III/IV) or active liver disease
-
Caution in patients with osteoporosis, bladder cancer history, or macular edema
-
Avoid during pregnancy or breastfeeding
-
Inform your doctor about all other antidiabetic medications or cardiac drugs
