Product Description:

ZEMDAP® contains Dapagliflozin, a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor used to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Beyond blood sugar control, it offers proven cardiovascular and renal protection, reducing the risk of heart failure hospitalizations and slowing the progression of chronic kidney disease. It is effective both as monotherapy or in combination with other oral antidiabetics.

How it works:

Dapagliflozin works by blocking SGLT2 receptors in the proximal renal tubules, reducing glucose reabsorption in the kidneys and promoting glucosuria (urinary glucose excretion). This leads to improved glycemic control, calorie loss, and reduction in body weight and blood pressure.

How to use:

• Take one tablet once daily, preferably in the morning, with or without food.

• Swallow whole with water — do not crush or split.

• Dose selection (5mg or 10mg) depends on the clinical condition and the doctor’s judgment.

• Maintain adequate fluid intake while on this medication.

Safety Advice:

• May increase urination frequency — stay well hydrated.

• Monitor renal function, blood glucose, and HbA1c regularly.

• Low risk of hypoglycemia unless used with insulin or sulfonylureas.

Precautions:

• Not recommended in patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
